Part of Amsterdam Art Week 17 – 27 June

Adapted opening hours

Friday, 18 June to Sunday, 27 June, 12 – 19 hrs

Join us for the festive opening accompanied by multi-sensory magic. We invite you to make a first step in your journey in self-inquiry. Insight Whisperer will reveal your hypnotism archetype to shake your meta-awareness to trigger transformations.

For the exhibition Insight Whisperer, trans-disciplinary artist Ola Lanko invites you to embark on the quest for meaning and insight. She will take the role of an insight whisperer facilitating a conversation with your rational and irrational self. The exhibition is a quest for individual and collective insight. A playful exploration of materiality translated into abstraction.

Creating together with the help of the invisible forces, Lanko points out the inability to understand the world only through its materiality. Taking a single object as a point of departure, the artist expands and unfolds our understanding of it. The presented series of abstract, intuitive, and contemplative works is a collection of insights to be made by the viewer. Ola Lanko invites you to expand existing maps to navigate the world, rejecting fixed models of reality, provoking personal discovery and transformation by marrying senses and rationality.

The exhibition features the artist’s most recent research in which she is looking for a crossover between metaphysics, new spirituality, agnosticism, materiality, and the real. The transdisciplinary character of the exhibition is reflected in photographic works, sound, aroma and intimate conversations with the visitors in search for their personal insight through questioning and self-inquiry.

CONVERSATION: Individual one-hour ‘insight whisperer’ session

Up for taking an active approach to seeking insight? For these one-on-one conversations, Ola Lanko employs an amalgamation of philosophical counseling rooted in psychology, sociology, art, cognitive science, and other conventional and idiosyncratic disciplines. Using radical honesty, shadow work, self-inquiry, and transjective presence, Lanko invites you to explore what is most alive for you at the moment.

BIO Ola Lanko

Ola Lanko (Kiev, Ukraine, 1985) studied sociology at National University in Kiev, and photography at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague and at Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Over the past 10 years, Lanko has built a continuous ever-changing practice with a strong focus on building complex multifaceted frameworks. They include a transdisciplinary approach manifested in a vast diversity of artistic strategies. From photography to immersive multi-sensorial installations, Lanko’s practice consists of layered structures combining intuitive and rational ‘wisdoms’.

Currently, her practice is inspired by alternative knowledge, cognitive science, transformative processes, monism, plants, smells, sounds and textiles. She addresses rising inequality and fear, polarization and shattering of common realities, the crisis of meaning and trust, subconscious drives and desires. Besides her artistic practice, Ola teaches at the photography department in the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague.

Her work was shown in numerous art institutions such as FOAM, the Nederlands Fotomuseum, Kunst Haus Wien (Vienna), Museo Amparo (México) and Musée de l’Elysée (Switzerland). In 2015, she was an artist in residency at WIELS Contemporary art center in Brussels and attended HISK post-academic art institute in Gent, Belgium, in 2017.
